Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is delivered through a mask and inhaled by the patient for the duration of their dental procedure. For most patients, it can improve their level of comfort and decrease their anxiety. Another benefit is that the patient does not require a driver because the nitrous is completely exhaled after the procedure. For some individuals, nitrous oxide alone may not provide their desired level of sedation. In this situation, IV sedation is recommended.
Nitrous Oxide is contraindicated for pregnant patients.
